ABOUT YOUNG DICKSON AKA YD

Dickson Annim known professionally as Young Dickson AKA YD is a Ghanaian singer, rapper and songwriter from Accra, Ghana. Dickson was born on May 12th, in Accra, Ghana. Dickson started singing and rapping at the tender age of 5 due to the tragic death of his mother. During this most difficult time in his life he found comfort by singing to himself which consoled him. With his newly found talent he practiced and quickly developed a passion for music.

Dickson attended St. Anglican Primary School in Dunkwa-on-offin and later relocated to Bepose in the western region.  At the age of 9 Dickson linked up with Abosomfor a popular music group in the township of Bepose.  As a 9 year old rapper and opening act, Dickson was well known for his freestyle and musical talent. As his talent evolved he began to compose his own music. At the age of 10, his first composition was written Akolakyitua tsis3 wo (a little child like you); he has since written many unrecorded and recorded titles.

 Over the course of his music career Dickson’s stage name has evolved from Asemfofor, Asem, and thrill thrash, he is now known as Young Dickson AKA YD.  Just as his name has evolved so has his talent. He has gone from performing in small towns as an opening act to performing his own original works at several different concerts and venues.

As a student of Shama senior high school he was appointed the entertainment prefect. Dickson enrolled in Enchi College Of education where he pursued Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a focus on Social Studies and religious and moral education.

Young Dickson AKA YD released “lost love in February 2020 and is due to release the “lost Love” video on May 12th 2020, Jollof and Ankonam in 2024 He is looking forward to the release of his debut album “The Initiation” soon.  This album embodies the essence and versatility of Young Dickson AKA YD.
